The Multi-Purpose Board was designed for use in several different projects. It has SIP sockets for an RF receiver, for two types of RF transmitter, and for an Infrared receiver. There are solder pads for simple wire antennas or for telescoping monopole antennas. The board is available with or without a battery holder for two 20mm coin cells. Depending on the project, regulated +5V power can be supplied by batteries or via the + and - solder pads used for the battery holder. Jameco has +5V regulated wall transformers: P/N 164101. Other regulated +5VDC power supplies will also work. Observe polarity.
The IR receivers listed below will fit the IR socket.
- Vishay TSOP4830 30kHz
- Vishay TSOP4836 36kHz
- Vishay TSOP4838 38kHz
- Vishay TSOP4840 40kHz
- Vishay TSOP4856 56kHz
- Panasonic 4701M 36.7kHz
- Panasonic 4602M 38kHz
There are several RF receiver and transmitter modules available from many sources with pinouts that match the sockets on the Multi-Purpose Board.
For the receiver and transmitter modules, pin 1 is always the leftmost pin. In the drawings below pin 1 is shown as the square pad on each SIP socket. On the board, each socket has a square dot adjacent to pin 1 which is always nearest the 3.5mm stereo jack.
