Improving SC1200 RF Range

The SC1200 uses the same HiMark RX3310A superheterodyne RF receiver module that X10 uses in the CM15A, CM19A and the latest version of the TM751. However, it still uses LC components for frequency control so it may not be tuned to the same center frequency as the sensors used with it and it also has a rather inefficient internal antenna. The SC1200 appears to be isolated from mains voltage but the facts that X10 has not published a schematic, that the console can control X10 controlled lights, and that the SC1200 lacks an external antenna, like the one on the CM11A, raise questions about the degree of mains isolation. Adding an efficient external antenna will be an improvement but prudence suggests it be galvanically isolated from the SC1200 circuitry.

The DS12A door/window switch has a SAW resonator for frequency control while the DS10A uses LC tuning. Adding passive radiators to both will improve range but the DS12A is preferred.
