A Network Burden must be connected across each C-Bus network to ensure the correct electrical characteristics. This Network Burden acts as an AC filter.
A Network Burden has been built into certain C-Bus units. Depending on the unit type, the Network Burden can be enabled or disabled by changing over a hardware jumper or by selecting or deselecting from the software options.
There are also two other types of hardware network burdens:
- One suitable for an RJ45 socket (shown here)
- One suitable for a screw down terminal
Almost all DIN Rail units have a software selectable Network Burden. For a software Network Burden to be enabled, the unit must be set at Unit Address 01.
Please note that when using the combination of a 5100PC and a 5500PS (or any DIN Rail unit with power supply), a physical plug-in burden must be used. Using the selectable jumper burden may not act the way it is supposed to.
